So…

“It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.”

So, winter is on the cusp. Today, in my neck of the woods, the high will be in the forties. When I woke up this morning, it was twenty-eight degrees and extremely hard to kick the covers off. If you’ve read anything I’ve written in the last seven years you know the battle I’ve had kicking those covers off and greeting another day winter or not. Not to boast, but I met the challenge and most days, my feet hit the floor and I willed myself to move, to be, whether I felt like it or not.

However, it took a long time for me to get my hands and heart around the fact that the loss of things that once were, was not temporary. I kept holding out hope that things would eventually go back to the way they were and all would be normal again. And they did, sort of, it just wasn’t the ‘normal’ I was expecting. So, here I am. The same but different. The now, Me.

So, what does the now, me, do now? Nothing different, really, than what we all should be doing, living a life that honors. Honors God and those God created. You see, I can just keep whining, which I’m very good at by the way, or I can reach out, give, meet needs, give thought, challenge, laugh with, cry with. In other words, love. It’s hard to love others when you’re whiny. Haven’t we proved that as a nation recently?

Even in this weird time of COVID, we can still live a life that honors. It doesn’t matter what we have suffered, or lost, or whatever. We are more than our troubles. We are stronger than our pain. We, as in those who are reading this, we, by the grace of God, are still here.

Each day we have a choice to make: Do we Whine or Do we Honor?

So, what’s it going to be?

Later,

deb
